‘Everest In A Day’ Cycling Challenge – 16th July 2022m – Help Us Raise £50,000
The Tour du Mont-Blanc (TMB) Cyclo is a benchmark among ultra-cycling events. It is a 330km sportive that sees riders climb over 8000m, the height of Everest, and pass through three countries across the “roof of Europe”…all in the same day!
Completing the challenge requires meticulous preparation, teamwork and a determination to push personal limits to the absolute maximum.
2022 will see the postponed eleventh edition of the TMB once again crossing between France, Switzerland and Italy on a demanding and ruthless route. This is undoubtedly the ultimate one-day sportive challenge.
Riv’s Riders are back!
In 2016, following the death of River Reeves and his Viola Beach bandmates in Sweden, River’s family and close friends came together as Riv’s Riders and took on a tough cycling challenge, raising £15,000 to launch our bursary programme. Working closely with schools and colleges, the Foundation’s bursaries help support disadvantaged young people across the North West realise their musical, performing and visual arts dreams.
The Riv’s Riders team are now back and looking to take on an even bigger challenge! The TMB Cyclo fundraiser will have £50,000 as a target and help the Foundation put in place a River Reeves Bursary Award in all 45 Higher Education Institutions across the North West by 2023. River dreamed big and so will the Riv’s Riders Team, a committed group of ten amateur cyclists wanting to help remember a talented, kind and funny young man who was following his dream and having the time of his life.
Background
We lost River in 2016 when he was travelling with his band Viola Beach and manager Craig Tarry back to Stockholm, Sweden having performed earlier in the evening. They were all tragically killed in a car accident whilst crossing a road bridge in Sodertalje. Viola Beach’s posthumous album reached #1 in the UK Albums charts in 2016 following a moving tribute to the band by Coldplay at Glastonbury.
The River Reeves Foundation was set up by River’s family to emphasise the positive that can come out of tragedy. We are celebrating River and his bandmates’ musical achievements and raises funds for the next generation of talented musicians, performers and artists.
How can you help?
Riv’s Riders are looking for as much sponsorship support as we can get to help us reach our target of £50,000. Thank you. Sponsor us.
